Properties:
Flaky and brownish red; easily soluble in water, slightly soluble in alcohols, insoluble in aethers; its aqueous solution is highly basic; can be easily oxidized in the air; toxic; pure sodium sulfide is colorless crystalline powder easily soluble in water.
Use:
Used in the manufacture of sulphur dyes sulphur black and sulphur blue; as flotation agent of ores; as cooking agent of paper; also widely used in textiles, pigments and rubber industries.
